about

This track is a collaboration between myself and Karim Osmanu, an Afropop artist based in Kumasi, Ghana who has worked with OBMG Records, a record label based in Ghana. He goes by the artist name K Yung. We met on Facebook in October 2016 and also expanded our communication to include WhatsApp. On Sunday 11/6/2016 at 8:12 p.m. EDT Karim sent me a voicenote on WhatsApp that included his acapella rendition of part of a "sweet song" he had written, which ended up being this song. He had me produce the instrumental for the song, and also mix it with his vocals he later recorded at his engineer Daniel Agyemang's recording studio. Agyemang is an engineer, producer and artist who works with OBMG Records, who also goes by the artist name Lazzy Beatz. Upon receiving Karim's vocals I added them to the beat and mixed them. On Friday 2/10/2017 at 4:26 p.m. EDT I got what I thought was gonna be the final master back from Cory Allen at Altered Ear Audio Mastering in Austin, TX, but then I heard from Karim that he had gone to some radio DJs he knew and they said it sounded like a demo master. So I went back and forth with Daniel Agyemang on WhatsApp and received his guidance on the mixing process, applying his suggestions to the mix, sending it to him via email and then getting more suggestions, and we went back and forth like that until the mix was satisfactory. Agyemang ended up mastering the track in the end and I received the master back from him at 3:55 a.m. on Sunday 2/26/2017. The artwork was done by DJ Nanabour, a graphic designer based in Ghana, and Reuben Walton. The song is an Afropop song with an uplifting message that talks about the unity of humanity, global poverty and life in Ghana.
