What a Wonderful World (in D)

from Refinery by Reuben Walton

about

My cover of this classic standard comes complete with added harmonies during the bridge, overdubs and delicate guitar plucking. I decided to cover this song after hearing The Innocence Mission's beautiful cover version of it on their 2004 album Now the Day Is Over in like 2008. The album it is on is a collection of lullabies, standards, traditional and classical songs. The guitar I am playing is my Taylor 214ce electric acoustic guitar. I think I recorded this during the 2009-2010 academic year at UMass Lowell, my freshman year there, in my dorm in Room 403, 4th Floor, Fox Hall, East Campus, UMass Lowell, 100 Pawtucket Street, Lowell, MA 01854, United States.

lyrics

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world
