My friend Derek Piotr (a.k.a. Derek Crofut) wanted to sing a cover of "Vertebræ By Vertebræ" by Björk, off of her then-current 2007 album Volta, which we were both somewhat obsessed with at the time. He's talking about our friend Brian Hayes from North Carolina in the beginning, who we knew through MySpace and because he was also a huge Björk fan. This was recorded with him singing via the house phone, in my bedroom at 172 Elm Road, Falmouth, MA, 02540, United States. The track artwork is a sepia picture of my late friend Amber Scanlan taken in her bedroom at F-22 Chilmark Drive, East Falmouth, MA 02536, with the more brightly lit hallway showing in the background through her open bedroom door. This song was originally uploaded to my SoundClick music page at www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=541671&content=music on Sunday 9/30/2007.
lyrics
Derek Piotr: He, he just kinda showed me how to, like, if you reverse the note that you're going to blend in before you blend it in, it sounds better.
Reuben Walton: Really?
DP: Yeah. So, I'm gonna try a few things. But, yeah, let me know when.
RW: Okay, you can go now.
DP: Up on the toe, hmm hmm there is a view up on the toe, and the spine straight and erect, hungry and curious, up on the toe, looking forward to umm oooh the air is thinner here a-a-a-a-hahahaha she came here to lose her fate she got down on her knees the beast is back on four legs set her clock to the moon raises her spine woowoaho vertebræ by vertebræ up on the toe it can oooh all I have been filled with this steam for months for years same old cloud claustrophobic me let it burst--like old train sounds, make them relieve nature uhummaywooo aiewohoooyeah aaaaa aaa vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ by vertebræ my arms ooze out of my shoulders and the arms ooze out of my shoulders I curl my tail I curl my tail in words big words in words and I set my clock

Super dreamy and spacey, just the way I like it. Beautiful music, recommended for fans of Best Coast, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, and other bands. Check 'em out! "D'Arrest" is my favorite! Reuben Walton
