Pepperoni (feat. Amber Scanlan)

about

Me and Amber were sitting in her car one morning smoking pokes in front of my Dad's house at 30 Hilton Avenue, Woods Hole, MA 02543, United States, and I recorded her using my Mom's old digital camera's audio recording feature when she started freestyling (initially about pepperoni) and then she meandered to other lyrical themes with deft transitions. Pokes are cigarettes where she would remove the filter and replace it with cannabis, similar to spliffs. The lyrical idea of a girl talking to her mother about how she couldn't sleep the night before because of the bed moving around and making weird noises was probably inspired by the 1973 horror film "The Exorcist". She and I both worked on the production. The lyrics interpolate part of the theme song from "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius". This song was originally uploaded to my SoundClick music page at www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=541671&content=music on Sunday 12/9/2007. The artwork is a sepia photo taken by me on my Mom's old digital camera at Sturgis Charter Public School's Spirit Day celebrations on the Hyannis Village Green, featuring the backs of multiple students. I think it's from the 2007 Spirit Day celebrations. I think the girl with the ponytail is Chelsea.
