I started working on this instrumental in Spring of 2010, at UMass Lowell. I was really influenced by the idea of using intricate polyrhythms and trying to incorporate that into an urban/hip-hop instrumental style. The polyrhythms at times remind me of drums imitating the intricate rhythms of fast rappers like Tech N9ne, Twista, Shawnna, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Mystikal, etc. and I could picture any of them, particularly Tech N9ne, layin' down a smokin' hot verse over this.
